It’s 2017 and yet the world of tech, that is computing and related technologies, is distinctly lacking in leading female voices. For example, tech publications are created for men, by men and that cycle is self-perpetuating.
Although it’s full steam ahead with projects to increase the number of women with STEM qualifications and training, we won’t see the results of these efforts for a few years still, and the number of qualified and experienced women in STEM fields remains low. This is the underlying problem to overcoming the ‘man’s world’ of tech.
This article explores the current situation in more detail and suggests we need to stop the tokenistic approach to including women and start finding ways to rebalance the often chauvinistic attitude held within tech companies.
