Our Lady of the Sacred Heart College (OLSH) is an independent Catholic secondary school for girls located in Bentleigh in the south-eastern suburbs of Melbourne. Administered by the Daughters of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart and founded in 1938 the College has a strong history of excellence in education. Our motto, Regnet Christus – May Christ Reign – is our tradition. With an enrolment of approximately 670 students we are committed to our vision of being Heart people who are faith-filled; reverence relationships; pursue excellence and touch the hearts of others. At OLSH we are passionate about the education of young women and their success. The provision of innovative learning opportunities across a wide range of subject areas in a climate that promotes excellence and the wellbeing of all is a feature of the College. High priority is given to small class sizes and technology in the classroom, and there is a strong emphasis placed on building literacy and numeracy skills. Broad subject offerings in VCE and the opportunity for students to undertake VCAL and VET courses is characteristic of the desire of the College to empower our young women to achieve to their personal best in all that they undertake. Students continue to achieve outstanding academic results including recognition through the VCE Premier’s Award and the VCAL Achievement Award. The modern educational facilities provided at the College enhance learning for our students in every aspect. The ongoing development of our resources in technology is an important aspect of the future directions of the College. Co-curricular activities offered to students include camps, sport, drama, art, music, debating and public speaking. The range of opportunities available to students encourages an holistic, healthy approach to life. Our ministry of outreach to those in need both locally and globally is a vital aspect of our mission. Students, staff and parents are heavily involved in St Vinnies Van and fundraising for OLSH overseas missions is a significant part of the student journey. As part of an international OLSH family, the College has a variety of outreach trips and study tours. Included in these experiences are trips to indigenous missions in Australia as well as to Kiribati, Europe and Asia. An education at OLSH is an education of the Heart – the Heart of Learning and the Heart of Life!
