This report evaluates the outcomes of a project - Futures Planning for Older Carers of Adults with Disabilities (phrase 2).

The main objective of this project was to assist older carer/s (and their adult children or family member with disabilities, where possible) to reach a level of certainty with respect to

future care needs. In addition Phase 2 sought to test the viability of expanding the project to reach a wider number of carers, in a cost-and time-effective way, by working through service providers active in the sector.

The report concludes that the project was very successful for the 10 participating families who remained involved to

the end.Service providers involved in the project reported that this has

given families a sense of relief, peace of mind and had wide-ranging benefits for the family

unit. Some service providers have incorporated it to their “Standard toolkit” for working with carers / families of an adult with a disability.
